Kitchen and Bath Show Highlights 2019

I recently returned from the Kitchen and Bath Show in Las Vegas. They partner with the International Builders Show. I look forward to attending this show each year, and seeing the latest and greatest in kitchen, bath and building product design. Many of the items are prototypes and won’t be released for up to six months. How cool is that?

I’m always excited to see what is trending and what product will be chosen the show favorite. Find out who the winner was at the end of the blog!

There's always buzz on the show floor and the energy is electrifying. I usually have a list of my favorite vendors that I seek out, but this year I decided to ditch the list and just walk the floor. Sometimes it’s just better that way.

To say color was one of the biggest trends is an understatement. Color was everywhere in the way of cabinets, sinks, faucets, lighting, just about every vendor introduced a splash. This year the queen of color was emerald green. I saw green kitchens, green tile, green appliances and green stone.

That’s not to say there weren’t other fantastic colors. Black matte faucets, sinks and tubs were plentiful. There is something very modern and sexy about the black matte finish.

True, a refrigeration manufacture, showed off its newest refrigerator door, and yes, it was emerald green.  Honestly, I like the navy better, but they were both really pretty.

GE rolled out matte white appliances with your choice of handles.  The photo below pairs their white matte oven and range with their version of the emerald green on the cabinets.  Really pretty.

BlueStar, a cooking appliance manufacturer, created a process that can take any image and print it on a range, hood or refrigerator. Shown below is the Nova Series pro style range with a fun floral stripe from the Madcap Cottage design firm, one of my favorites for fun, happy and colorful interior design, fabrics and wallpapers.

SMEG always promises colorful appliances each year:

Look at these colorful outdoor grilles from Hestan.  So very cute!

Victoria and Albert, makers of some of the most gorgeous freestanding tubs I have ever laid eyes on, recently launched a new color service, allowing you to personalize the exterior of their freestanding baths and basins to coordinate with the rest of the bathroom’s design. In addition to their existing six standard paint finishes, (Matt White, Matt Black, Gloss Black, Anthracite, Light Grey and Stone Grey) they are now offering a spectrum of 194 RAL colors, in either gloss or matte finishes. Check out these tubs! I could so design a bathroom around each and every one of them!

Who doesn’t love a beautiful door, especially when it s painted a fun color. What a great way to jazz up the inside of your home. Check out these colorful doors by Masonite.

Mixed Metals

This year we saw lots of mixed metals. I was particularly enamored with the fashion inspired Ombre Vibrant from Kohler.  It uses an innovative technique to melds two metal finishes together to create a very subtle yet striking transition from light to dark. Check this out!

Look at this stunning collection of gold with black hardware.

Gold appliances and gold cabinet fronts were big again this year. I absolutely love the brushed gold.

Check out one of my favorite vendors at this show, Thompson Traders, the maker of beautiful metal sinks and hoods. They offer many different finishes and are also showcasing matte black.

There was plenty of technological introductions at the show but one of my favorites is this amazing faucet. I love drinking water, but sometimes I like bubbles in my water, and of course I want my water filtered.  Well, Grohe Blue has you covered. It is a beautifully styled faucet with a high-performance filter, cooler and cabonater, all in one. The right handle on the faucet is used to mix hot and cold tap water as usual. The left handle, with integrated colored LED display, is your carbonated water.  No more buying bottled water and NO MORE PLASTIC in the environment, Hallelujah!

Clever Solutions & Storage

I am all about functionality in design, especially when its pretty! For someone who takes a bath EVERY night, I was so excited to come across this little gem. One of the things that Victoria & Albert sells that is simply a must for bathers is their Barcelona Backrest!  I live in a home with a 1980s tub and this is going to save my back and neck!

Wellborn Cabinet Company showcased some clever under stairwell storage solutions.

Look at this adorable doggie washing station!  Again, from Wellborn.

This is another clever storage solution, for your dog. They always want to be close to their people, so why not give them their own space in the favorite room in the house - the kitchen.

For those of you in smaller spaces, Bertazzoni launched compact kitchen appliances that offer the same capabilities as their larger counterparts.  This range is only 24" wide.  Perfect for that AirBnB or mother-in-law suite. Its a beauty!

Who can’t use a little help staying organized? Finelines drawer organizers offer a stylish and practical solution for everyone.

Aging in Place and Wellness

As a Certified Aging in Place Specialist, I was very excited to learn about Ponte Giulio.  This company manufactures safety solutions for both residential and commercial applications. They make beautiful grab bars - check out these colors. They will even match them to your wallpaper! Everything is made in Italy!

Ponte Giulio also offers these folding shower seats which will accommodate up to 350lbs!

TOTO has developed the world's first zero-gravity bathtub in which bathers experience total weightlessness. TOTO calls this an extraordinarily calming, tension-free bathing experience. Watch this beautiful youtube video to learn more.

If you’re in need of some cabinetry hardware... I’ve got you covered. There were so many different hardware manufactures it made my head spin. From traditional to modern and everything in between.

Back-lit mirrors were all over the show floor. This was my favorite from Victoria and Albert, the Loano Mirror. This mirror is traditional in design but functional with the back-light.

This Anza Coffee Maker is so cute and comes in different finishes like Corian or cement.  I want!

Lighting is always a big thing at the show but frankly, it is so complex I could write an entire blog post dedicated just to lighting. This year the show featured lots of back-lit stone. I loved this one in particular.

This was one of my favorite lighting fixtures from Lamps Plus.

As promised, here is the winner of the best of KBIS.  The Blade 3-D printed faucet by DXV American Standard. Simple, elegant and functional.

So, what was your favorite? Let me know how I can make your kitchen and bath dreams come true!
