Kitchen and Bath Show 2018 - Hard Hat Tour

I had the pleasure of attending the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS) in Orlando as part of the Modenus Blog Tour.  A few select design bloggers were invited to experience the show as a group and learn firsthand about all of the amazing new products out on the market for kitchen and bath design.

As part of this group, we had the opportunity to take a 'Hard Hat Tour' during setup before the show started. Aside from the vendors, we were the only guests allowed out on the floor. We saw everything shown below - all before 9:00am.  You know, it's hard work to put on these industry shows!

This was my first time attending KBIS and I gotta tell you, I was so surprised by how many fantastic products are out there.  Designing a kitchen or bath is no easy feat, but I love that there is always more to learn as products change and improve by the day.

The first booth we visited was with Cosentino.  I actually had the pleasure of touring their facilities in Spain a few years back (you can read all about my experience with this amazing family-owned business in this post).  One of their newest introductions at KBIS was this freestanding bath credenza designed by renowned architect and designer Daniel Germani.

Now, this is what I call designing outside the box.  This product also won the Silver Award for Best of KBIS 2018 in Best of Bath.  I love the idea of closing up the sink area when not in use and having a beautiful piece of furniture in the bathroom.

Our second booth visit was Elkay, manufacturers of sinks, faucets and other plumbing fixtures.  At the show, they unveiled an apron sink with interchangeable fronts.

So brilliant! This would be a great option for someone who likes to change their interiors often.  I was also very impressed with Elkay's sink options for outdoor entertaining. Imagine having the setup shown above in your backyard!

Next we visited Hafele, a German company that specializes in products ranging from decorative hardware to storage solutions and sliding systems to office organization, LED lighting and RFID electronic locks.

The company features more than 35,000 products (yes, you read that right!), but here are just a few of the innovative items they make to help you organize your spaces.

Our next booth was GE/Monogram.  You've most likely heard of this brand. It was wonderful to see their 'best and brightest' products on display. From self-cleaning ranges to ice and water dispensers, to 'speed cook' ovens and (get this!) refrigerators that make coffee, GE Appliances continues to "electrify and modernize" life 125 years since they first began.

Next on the tour was James Martin Signature Vanities.  Who wouldn't love a beautiful vanity in their bathroom?! These are just a handful of the stylish and functional vanity options available.

Up next was Federal Brace. Federal Brace provides the largest selection of designer support brackets specifically crafted to support granite and other solid surface countertops. They also make a variety of other products to help design the perfect space.

We then visited GEOLUXE.  GeoLuxe is a breakthrough 'Pyrolithic Stone' that combines the beauty of natural marble with superior technical performance. Used in both interior and exterior installations it is available in 2CM slabs and 24"X48"X1CM tile.  We were told that you can put a hot pan directly on the surface with no fear of damage.

Pyrolithic Stone is made from a complex combination of mineral-based materials using a patented Geomimcry forming technology. The process enables marble-like veins to form throughout the slab body.

Following GEOLUXE, we headed over to Range Craft.   For over three decades, RangeCraft has been a leading industry manufacturer of high quality custom range hoods. RangeCraft’s custom made range hoods are available in over 25 product designs in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors.

Our final stop of the tour was Easy Drain. This family-owned business has been designing practical solutions for your bathroom since the 1920s.  Their shower drains are functional as well as beautiful.

I hope this peek into my Hard Hat Tour has inspired you for your next kitchen or bath project. More blog posts on my trip  are to come so I can introduce you to the fabulous sponsors of the whole shebang, DXV, Metrie, Mr. Steam, Thermador, Wilsonart and KBIS.  Stay tuned!
